Gambling Care is proud to collaborate with Family Resource Centres throughout Ireland, to provide a community-based model of family for the person struggling with their gambling, and their families or friends.
Family Resource Centres are managed by local voluntary management committees, trained to identify individual needs and develop needs-led responses. They are participative and empowering organisations that provide a range of universal and targeted services and development opportunities that address the needs of families, including counselling and to individuals, families and groups impacted by problem gambling.
Helplink Mental Health operates a free, national gambling addiction counselling service, 7 days a week and out-of-hours: online or by phone. Furthermore, they provide weekly aftercare groups for clients who have completed their one-to-one counselling sessions. This service is provided by experienced and qualified addiction counsellors for young people (aged 16 to 18 yrs) and adults alike.

Aftercare Service:
Gambling addiction clients, that have completed their one-to-one counselling sessions with Helplink Counsellors are then offered a place on our weekly aftercare groups for 12 months. Aftercare groups (also known as peer groups) are facilitated each week by an addiction counsellor and they help clients to get the they need to achieve long-term recovery from addiction.
The group meetings are a core part of the addiction treatment programme and are not an 'add-on' once the one-to-one counselling sessions end. The group meetings are vital to give clients the best means possible to avoid relapse by allowing them to talk through issues both positive and negative. Clients benefit from a process of sharing experiences with each other as they progress through recovery. Group who may be struggling with a particular issue not suitable for discussion within the group or any member who experiences relapse, will immediately be offered a number of one-to-one counselling sessions to help them move forward and return to the group as soon as is appropriate.
Dunlewey Addiction Services was founded in 1987 and has become a specialist organisation in the provision of counselling, training and services in the field of addiction. Our mission statement “unlocking the door to personal growth, learning and change” represents our belief that everyone has within them the capacity to change and develop as unique individuals.
We operate a free, confidential helpline service 24 hours per day, 365 days per year for individuals affected by their own or a family member’s problem gambling issues.

When a new referral is received an assessment will be carried out and client referred on to our free counselling service for counselling, brief intervention, or health & wellbeing calls.
Free aftercare programmes are also available.. We will aim to provide an exit pathway for clients which will include opportunities to attend our New Arch Programmes. These groups are not designed as further elements of treatment but rather opportunities for sharing experiences, advice and from peers that have been through treatment or are in similar circumstances to the client.
The WGRC provides a low cost, comprehensive, community-based one-to-one service to anyone affected by gambling harms. This is provided by professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists and is confidential and non-judgemental. The service aims to intervene to provide the person affected by harmful gambling with the necessary s to promote resilience and maintain well-being regardless of social or emotional background. Anyone concerned about a person’s gambling can make a referral to the service.

We are the largest provider of addiction treatment services in Ireland and we supplied in excess of 200,000 bed nights per annum into the Irish healthcare system pre Covid. In 2019, In response to the escalation we witnessed in gambling related cases and harm, we were delighted to get the opportunity to develop a “ gambling specific” treatment programme at Cuan Mhuire, Athy in partnership with GAT. We are no strangers to the development of bespoke client centered solutions for particular client cohort groups and this initiative has enabled us to reach out to those in crisis because of gambling related harm and their families. The provision of the above residential service has provided recovery opportunities to in excess of 80 clients per annum who would otherwise have not been able to access a “ gambling specific” residential programme.

- Gambling specific group therapy delivered on a daily basis by professionally trained staff who have undergone specific skills training in the field.

The service is available to anyone regardless of their means or insurance status. It is funded through GAT funding, some state funding and resident contributions where applicable.
We are a 24/7, 365 service and potential clients are welcome to us at any time. issions however, are scheduled.
We welcome referrals from any source. These include potential clients, their families, GP referrals or any other allied healthcare professional in the community. We look forward to forging stronger links with community based initiatives that are being developed by GAT.
In addition to this we are running accredited Level 8 (QQI) training at our counselling college at Galilee House, Athy. Our first intake of students took place in January 2022, we look forward to running this training into the future. This training is run in collaboration with Munster Technological University ( MTU).

Aiséirí provides community and residential services to help young people, adults and families overcome addiction and lead meaningful lives in recovery.
They also provide education and information services with outreach to individuals, communities, schools and businesses who may need to know more about the complexities of addiction.

Turas is a not-for-profit addiction counselling service based in Dundalk, Co. Louth. We work with circa 350 people annually from across the North East region who present at different stages of the addiction cycle. Our primary work is with people addicted to alcohol, drugs and gambling from 18+ years.
Through motivational work, harm reduction, one-to-one counselling, group therapy, drama, art and our Recovery Cafe we clients to deepen their recovery, forge new lives for themselves and develop recovery capital.
We have a dedicated gambling counsellor who can work with anyone experiencing problem gambling and them towards recovery.
We also offer a Community Alcohol Detox (CAD) programme, a medical detox overseen by a GP, with psychosocial s provided by our counsellors.

WASP (Whitechurch Addiction Programme) provides a suite of family services for concerned persons impacted by a loved one's gambling including out-of-hours services.
The suite of services includes:
- Psychotherapeutic educational groups, we facilitate groups on Mondays and Thursdays for women, and a men's group on Wednesdays.
- Somatics class every Saturday at 12 noon.
- Complimentary Holistic services available by appointment.
- One-to-one sessions, counselling, family mediation available by appointment.
